Competition Law in Hong Kong and the Mainland - Start-up Kit for Businesses

After years of deliberation, the Hong Kong Competition Ordinance was enacted this summer. The Administration is gearing up to establish two new institutions for enforcement – and businesses are stepping up compliance under the new rules.

Henry Wheare and Adrian Emch of Hogan Lovells will analyse the Competition Ordinance and explain its impact on businesses.

In addition to Hong Kong, their presentation will cover the latest competition law developments in Mainland China, particularly in the M&A area. Following the enactment of the Anti-Monopoly Law in China in 2008, 15 transactions were approved subject to conditions – five of them in 2012 alone. Four years later we evaluate our experience with the Anti-Monopoly Law in the context of the current environment.
