Ejim Peter Achi

With an MBA and the experience of founding a start-up in the "social TV" space, Ejim Achi has cultivated a commercial perspective and a creative problem-solving ethos that he brings to his practice. Ejim focuses on mergers and acquisitions, with particular emphasis on private equity and venture capital transactions.

Based out of the New York office, and having spent the entirety of his legal career in New York, he has vast experience advising domestic and international clients on a wide variety of business matters, including cross-border and domestic private and public company transactions, secondary market equity transactions, asset purchases, and joint ventures.

As a member of the Africa Practice Group at the firm, Ejim is a strong advocate of the economic potential of African countries. He has represented clients in joint ventures, acquisitions, and venture capital transactions involving African targets. In 2011, he won the Accelerator Award at MIT Sloan School of Business' Africa Innovate Competition. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Angaza Foundation for Africa Reporting. In 2015, he was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in the New York metropolitan area.

While in law school at the University of Pennsylvania, he obtained a Certificate in Business and Public Policy from Wharton. During business school at Yale, Ejim spent a semester abroad at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

An avid soccer and NFL fan, Ejim roots for Manchester United, New York City FC, and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Advised a U.S. institutional investor in its investment in a South Africa-based franchisee of a prominent U.S. franchisor.

Represented a U.S.-based private equity firm in its acquisition of a German chemicals business.

Advised a major U.S. private equity firm in connection with its US$2.1bn acquisition of a manufacturer of consumer packaged goods.

Advised a British private equity firm in connection with its US$980m acquisition of one of the world's top-10 branded seafood companies.

Advised a French private equity firm in connection with its US$360m acquisition of a manufacturer of proprietary plastic packaging.

Advised an infrastructure fund of a large global investment bank in connection with its US$350m acquisition of a toll road operator in Mexico.

Advised a Canadian pension fund in connection with its US$425m acquisition of a payment systems company.
