Santiago is an Environmental and Constitutional lawyer who focuses his practice on consulting and litigation for domestic and international clients from various industrial sectors. ESG values have become vital throughout his career and acknowledges the importance of their implementation in every matter.
In addition to day-to-day advice, he participates in the regulatory and environmental analysis in connection with M&A transactions, as well as high-profile environmental and administrative litigation. Some of those matters have consisted in ‘amparo’ trials against the 2021 amendment of the Mexican Electric Industry Law and the Hydrocarbons Law, among others.
Santiago has also been a public servant, as he clerked at Mexico´s Supreme Court of Justice during 2019-2021. Since then, his practice has focused on Constitutional and Administrative Law.
He has experience in litigation processes before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights as part of his academic activities. Along with University peers, he filed a class action demanding precautionary measures for the protection of several Human Rights at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
