Dr. Clemens Ziegler

Not least due to his experience in competition compliance officer positions, Hogan Lovells senior associate Clemens Ziegler is committed to help businesses to quickly adapt to new requirements, to realize cost savings and other efficiencies. He provides business-oriented and pragmatic advice on competition compliance matters. In addition to this, Clemens handles complex, multi-jurisdictional merger transactions, as well as other types of regulatory filings. He represents clients with merger or joint venture plans before the European Commission and the German Bundeskartellamt (Federal Cartel Office), but also coordinates merger and antitrust filings with local counsel in other jurisdictions.

Clemens' experience includes counselling on appropriate preparatory measures before implementing a transaction, including assisting in developing communications, media and lobbying strategies, as well as, if required, the preparation of remedy proposals. Clemens offers his services to help businesses adapt to changing regulatory requirements, for instance by developing and implementing compliance and training programmes. He has also worked on abuse of dominance, cartel and State aid cases.

Clemens has particular experience in the maritime industry, but has also advised clients in the energy and natural resources and telecommunications industries, as well as in a number of industrial manufacturing sectors, e.g. pharmaceuticals. Clemens has been recommended by Legal 500 2015 as a ''dedicated' senior associate'. Clemens joined Hogan Lovells in Brussels in 2013. From 2007 to 2008 and from 2009 to 2013, he worked in the Brussels and Washington DC offices of another major international law firm. Clemens' native language is German; he is fluent in English and Italian, as well as proficient in French.
