Chiyokazu Shindo

Chiyokazu is a senior associate in the Hogan Lovells Corporate team in Tokyo and has extensive experience in corporate legal matters, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures, restructurings, capital raising and regulatory, with an emphasis on cross-border M&A and private equity matters. He also regularly advises private companies on matters of corporate law. Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Chiyokazu was regional counsel for Japan and Asia-Pacific at HOYA Corporation, a Tokyo-listed supplier and seller of high-tech and medical products.

At HOYA, Chiyokazu handled a wide range of legal matters, including successfully closing the company's strategic M&A deals across Japan and Asia-Pacific. Before joining HOYA, Chiyokazu worked in Frontier Management Inc., a management consultancy and M&A advisory company, and a Top 10 international law firm on M&A and related corporate matters.

Advising Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) on its JPY100 billion investments in a major financial institution.

Advising Nakayama Steel Works on its JPY9 billion issuance of new shares by third party allotment to Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal.etc.

Advising Nakayama Steel Works on the management buyout of its subsidiary, Nankai Chemical Co., Ltd.

Advising RENOWN INCORPORATED on the sale of business of its logistics subsidiary to the certain company established by the fund.

Advising TONICHI CARLIFE GROUP Inc. on its issuance of new shares by third party allotment to NISSAN MOTOR CO., LTD.

Advising Chibagin Securities Co.,Ltd. on its stock-for-stock exchange with its parent company of Chiba bank.

Advising Mercian (currently subsidiary of Kirin Holdings Company, Limited) on its sale of majority shares of its subsidiary

Advising Aiful Corporation on its acquisition of credit card business LIFE Co., Ltd by way of corporate split and merger with LIFE Co., Ltd.
