Carlijn van Rest is a litigator at heart. She is particularly interested in complex cases, representing clients in court and in arbitration. She brings not only with her extensive experience in financial services litigation, but also deals regularly with corporate disputes.
From advice on international economic sanctions regulations to shareholder disputes - Carlijn is on top of things. She also understands that the world is bigger than the Netherlands, therefore she regularly advises on international jurisdiction and choice-of-law issues in cross-border disputes or contracts.
Acting for Italian cllients before Enterprise court on compensation by Dutch Minister of Finance in relation to the nationalization of SNS Bank and SNS Reaal.
Acting for a French bank in interim injunctions proceedings on the discovery of documents.
Represent a Dutch holding company in a dispute on the payment of part of the purchase price under a SPA.
Successfully represented a Dutch bank in debt recovery litigation and enforcement of security.
Acting for investment fund on its transfer to another manager, and on obtaining licence at the Ministry of Finance to handle applicable EU sanctions restrictions.
Successfully acted on behalf of a Dutch company in proceedings on the recognition and enforcement of a billion dollar Swiss arbitral award.
