Bruce E. Parmley
If you recognize an iconic hotel or resort, there is a good chance that Bruce Parmley was involved at some point in his career as the lawyer for the owner or investor — not, unfortunately, as a frequent guest. To name a few The Plaza, New York; The Fairmont, San Francisco; The Copley Plaza, Boston; Grande Lakes Resort, Orlando; The Savoy Hotel, London; Hotel George V, Paris; Hotel des Bergues, Geneva; The Hotel Arts, Barcelona; The Westin Palace Hotel, Milan; The Gresham Palace Budapest; Norfolk Hotel, Nairobi; The Dubai Four Seasons at Jumeirah Beach; Hotel Palácio Tangará, São Paulo.
Bruce is widely recognized as one of the leading go-to practitioners representing owners of, and investors in, substantial estate projects. He is best known for his national and international focus on luxury hotels and is well known to, but has no conflicts with, the major luxury brands. Bruce serves as principal and special real estate counsel to sophisticated clients and regularly negotiates and drafts legal agreements for hotel projects on a global basis. Bruce truly enjoys what he does. Bruce's 35+ years in law encompass nearly all aspects of real estate and hotel and resort practice throughout the United States, Canada, continental Europe and the UK, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. He is skilled in real estate investment, acquisition, sale, development, capital structuring, financing, operational, management, and licensing.
Bruce has served as the Chair of Real Estate for the U.S. and Americas for Hogan Lovells. He was elected twice by the former Hogan & Hartson (now Hogan Lovells) partners to the firm's Executive Committee and also served on the firm's Operating Committee for many years. Bruce is on the Advisory Board for, and has presented to, the Georgetown University Law Center Annual Hotel and Lodging Legal Summit, and has also been a guest presenter at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration and the Columbia University Graduate School.
"Bruce Parmley is recognized by sources for his financial specialty, as well as his ability to handle international transactions. Commentators appreciate that 'he's been around a long time and knows the industry,' giving him the skills and experience to become 'a very good technical lawyer — detail-oriented, careful and thoughtful.'"
"[O]ne of the deans of the profession 'singled out for his problem-solving approach to matters' 'as good as it gets' 'equal to the very best' 'very thoughtful, smart and practical advice.'"
