Alex Brightman is an experienced construction lawyer with a particular focus on international energy and infrastructure projects.

He advises clients on all stages of the contracting process from procurement strategy, bid submission and negotiation through to contract close. 

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Alex was a senior lawyer in the Doha office of an international law firm and supported public and private sector entities across the Gulf region on major transport (roads and rail), energy (construction of a new district cooling plant and hydro-electric power facilities), social housing and real estate development projects.

Advising ProjectCo on the development of a process plant and associated infrastructure for production of sugar, potable ethanol and power in Sri Lanka.

Advising on high value construction of a methanol plant and associated infrastructure in Russia, including preparation of EPC Contract.

Advising a developer in relation to the construction and financing of a solar PV project in Malawi, including negotiation of the EPC Contract and ancillary agreements.

Advising lenders on the EPC Contract and related project agreements for the construction of a pipeline and floating storage and offloading unit in Nigeria.

Advising a client on the licensing arrangements for the use and exploitation of a process licence in connection with a high profile LNG project.
