Alex is a senior associate in the firm's Infrastructure, Energy, Resources and Projects practice based in London. Alex is a construction law specialist with experience of undertaking both contentious and non-contentious work in the UK and the Middle East. He has advised public and private sector clients extensively on different project delivery methods (including Design-Build, PPP, PFI and BOT among others), and preparing and negotiating standard form (including FIDIC, NEC3 and JCT) and bespoke construction agreements on major energy, infrastructure, transportation and mixed-use commercial projects.
Representative experience
Advising ProjectCo on the development of a process plant and associated infrastructure for production of sugar, potable ethanol and power in Sri Lanka.
Advising on high value construction of a methanol plant and associated infrastructure in Russia, including preparation of EPC Contract.
Advising a developer in relation to the construction and financing of a solar PV project in Malawi, including negotiation of the EPC Contract and ancillary agreements.
Advising lenders on the EPC Contract and related project agreements for the construction of a pipeline and floating storage and offloading unit in Nigeria.
Advising a client on the licensing arrangements for the use and exploitation of a process licence in connection with a high profile LNG project.
A major public railway network in the Middle East on the documentation affected by a merger and change of name of a D&B contractor’s JV partner. This included advising on commercial risks and liability issues, preparing new and amended contract and ancillary documentation and advising on corporate governance issues.
Legal advice and support on a large-scale investment project located in Russia comprising the construction of a methanol plant and associated infrastructure (procured on a turnkey basis).
