FAA Issues Clarifications for New Flight, Duty, and Rest Requirements
The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a lengthy document purporting to clarify certain issues raised regarding the new flight, duty, and rest requirements of 14 CFR Part 117. FDRRPart117 The clarifications are meant to address a number of far-ranging issues that air carriers have raised since the Final Rule for new Part 117 was issued in January 2012, including the extent to which compliance with the new Part 117 before its effective date could substitute for compliance with the current flight, duty, and rest regulations and whether flight attendants are required to comply with Part 117. The new requirements of Part 117 are scheduled to become effective in January 2014.
