49. Offshore Breakfast

Offshore wind in India & the upcoming first offshore wind tender

The session will focus on offshore wind in India. India plans the first offshore wind tender, reportedly, to be held this year and has first concrete plans for a 1000MW commercial scale offshore wind farm off the coast of Gujarat. India's current target is 5GW of offshore wind capacity by 2022 and 30GW by 2030.

After a call for the submission of expressions of interest in April 2018, a long list of well-known international players responded to this call including Northland Power, wpd, Innogy, Orsted, Van Oord, Equinor Shell, E.ON and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.

We have invited Mr. Gahan Singh, lawyer and partner with the Indian law firm Khaitan & Co. who focuses on mergers & acquisitions, project and structured finance in the Indian energy and infrastructure space to give us an insight on the upcoming first offshore wind tender and some general background on the on development and the regulatory aspects of the offshore wind sector in India.

The presentations will be in English.
