Craig Ulman has a diverse practice that spans bankruptcy and insurance insolvency, insurance regulation, clearinghouse arrangements, and UCC matters.
Craig is widely recognized for his knowledge of structured settlements and related insurance law; he drafted the model law that became the template for the structured settlement protection acts of 49 states. As a transactions lawyer, Craig has drafted and negotiated across the board, from the operating rules for an ATM network, to a sale and leaseback agreement for an elephant.
As counsel to airlines and related industry organizations, Craig has participated in every major airline bankruptcy proceeding since 1983. As counsel to the National Structured Settlements Trade Association and some of its insurance company members, Craig has helped to safeguard structured settlements and their recipients (many of them severely injured) in long-running insurance insolvencies, including the liquidations of Reliance Insurance Company and Executive Life of New York.
