Winfried Tilmann is a founding member of the firm. He retired from partnership in 2006 but remains active as "Of Counsel".
The focus of his work is on intellectual property, in particular patent law.
Winfried is a member of the German Association for Intellectual Property and Copyright and the European Patent Lawyers Association (EPLAW).
He has published more than 100 books and other publications on intellectual property, antitrust and business law.
Following his studies in Münster, Bonn, Athens/Ohio and Heidelberg he first worked as a judge at the regional court of Mannheim and as an advisor in patent and trademark law in the Federal Ministery of Justice. In 1979 he joined the Dusseldorf law firm von Falck, a predecessor firm of Hogan Lovells.
