Washington Metropolitan Area Corporate Counsel Association (WMACCA) Global Issues Forum: International Arbitration – Facts and Fiction for a Global Marketplace
Tuesday, March 20, 2012

LIVE at the offices of Hogan Lovells US LLP, Park Place II, Ninth Floor, 7930 Jones Branch Drive, McLean, Virginia (+1 703 610 6100) OR BY WEBCAST from your desk. Lunch will be served on-site from 12:00 – 12:30 p.m. The program will begin at 12:30 p.m. Free of charge.

Presented by partners Daniel E. Gonzalez and Jonathan T. Stoel of Hogan Lovells US LLP, Marc Michael, Counsel, of The AES Corporation, and Margaret M. Cassidy, Government Ethics and Compliance, from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, who will moderate. You finally see the light at the end of the tunnel in negotiating your contract and reach the dispute resolution provisions. You believe you want to select arbitration, but when working internationally, you need to consider the implications of your choice. When drafting international agreements, we will provide details on what you need to consider as you draft an arbitration provision. Also, you need to make certain that you have selected the “right” arbitral forum, process and language. Finally, we will discuss what you can do to protect your interests globally and, we will identify global landmines that you need to consider. The program will provide practical drafting and arbitral process suggestions for the in-house counsel when drafting international agreements. (Approved for 1.5 hours of Virginia MCLE credit.)
