Theresa is an associate in the Media Law Group at our New York office. She has worked on a wide range of civil litigation matters, with a primary focus on First Amendment, media litigation, and consultation. She has experience conducting pre-publication review of articles for a daily newspaper and working on matters for media clients in the cable television, book, motion picture, and newspaper industries in both state and federal courts, including defamation, invasion of privacy, publicity, copyright, and trademark litigation. She has made court appearances; drafted briefs, including appellate briefs and complex motions to dismiss and for summary judgment; and has taken depositions. Theresa has appeared on multiple occasions before the Committee on Media and Communications Law for the Association of the Bar of the City of New York to discuss litigation victories for media clients. She is also a frequent contributor to the Media Law Resource Center's Media Law Letter. She is also currently serving as a Vice Chair for the American Bar Association's Trial Practice Committee within the Section of Litigation. While in law school, Theresa interned at the Juvenile Division of the Washtenaw County Public Defender's Office, where she appeared in trial on behalf of youths involved in the juvenile justice system. She also worked as clerk at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Michigan, where she drafted several motions and briefs, including an appellate brief for the Sixth Circuit. In 2005, Theresa received her law school section's Book Award for excellence in legal research and writing. She was also an editor of the Harvard Journal on Legislation and the head writer for the 2007 Harvard Law School Parody.
