Tauhid advises on all types of structured finance and debt capital markets transactions and their related restructurings in a wide range of asset classes, including commercial real estate, infrastructure, equipment leasing and insurance.

He is listed in Chambers' Guide 2010 as a leading individual in securitisation. UK Legal 500 2009/10 list him as an expert and describe him as 'very considered with a pleasant, engaging demeanour and incisive intellect'.

He led the capital markets teams that won Structured Products Team of the Year (Avondale S.A. and Merlin 1 CDO B.V.) in the International Financial Law Review Awards in 2008.

He has worked on a number of innovative structured finance transactions including:

- The first structured collateralised insurance and reinsurance of the first ever longevity swap transaction involving a UK pension scheme – advising the reinsurer on this pathfinder deal

- The first synthetic securitisation of the value-in-force of a dynamic portfolio of insurance policies by Avondale Securities S.A. – advising Ambac Assurance on as monoline insurer on a deal that allowed Bank of Ireland to increase its core Tier 1 regulatory capital by reference to insurance policies held by its subsidiary life company

- The first synthetic securitisation of reinsurance recovery risk – advising Hannover Re as protection buyer in respect of Merlin CDO I B.V. The transaction won Structured Products Deal of the Year from International Law Finance Review in 2008

- The first Shariah compliant RMBS in Saudi Arabia – advising the arrangers on this pathfinder privately placed securitisation in Saudi Arabia

- The first UK investment fund CMBS – advising HSBC and RBC, as arrangers, on a £230 million CMBS involving the property portfolio of various investment fund subsidiaries of Friends Provident

- The first UK PPP whole business securitisation –advising the Tube Lines consortium on its £1.5 billion tranched securitisation of the London Underground PPP.
