Song Zhu Joins Hogan Lovells Intellectual Property Practice in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, 14 November 2011 – Hogan Lovells announced today that Dr. Song Zhu has joined its Intellectual Property practice as a partner in its San Francisco office. Zhu represents multinational, automotive, and technology clients in IP litigation and other matters, particularly in U.S., European, and Chinese markets.

Zhu, who earned his PhD in automotive engineering, previously served as a partner in the Intellectual Property and Technology practice and as Co-Chair of the Automotive Industry group at Squire, Sanders & Dempsey.

Zhu’s recent representative litigation matters include representing a U.S. client in a patent enforcement action against several Germany- and China-based companies; representing a China-based company in computer software and trade secret litigation in the U.S.; representing a U.S. company in a patent infringement and trade secret litigation matters in China; and representing a U.S. client in a patent infringement case in China against several companies in China.

Zhu also has extensive experience in patent prosecution and has represented clients on patent aspects of dozens of mergers and acquisitions and due diligence reviews.

He has technical expertise in semiconductor manufacturing, electronic devices, telecommunications, computer systems and software, renewable energy, automotive systems, and medical devices.

Prior to practicing law, Zhu was a senior engineer at General Motors, where he conducted research on various vehicle systems such as engine and powertrain systems and electronic and control systems.
