The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) to implement financial disclosure requirements of the Federal Physician Payment Sunshine Act. As described in the Hogan Lovells Health Alert dated 16 December 2011, the proposed rule would require public disclosure of all payments or transfers of value made by a pharmaceutical or device manufacturer to a physician or teaching hospital with limited exceptions. Comments on the proposed rule must be submitted by 17 February 2012.
