As partner in Hogan Lovells' International Insurance team, Lydia has more than ten years' experience helping clients with their most complex insurance and reinsurance disputes.

She has wide-ranging experience of all types of (re)insurance disputes, including property damage, business interruption, delay in start-up, fidelity/crime, trade credit, D&O and professional liability claims as well as more general commercial disputes and regulatory investigations.  

Lydia is familiar with all forms of dispute resolution procedure: Commercial Court proceedings, mediation, and arbitration, including on a cross-jurisdictional basis.  

Her insurance expertise also extends to (re)insurance policy review, design and coverage advice across a broad range of insurance types and classes of business.

Coverage and claims advice in connection with COVID-19 business interruption claims and related reinsurance aggregation issues. 

 

Advising a global reinsurer in connection with business interruption claims under a DIC/DIL master policy. 

 

Advising a UK broker on conduct regulation compliance in light of a competition and regulatory investigation.

 

Acting for a multi-national bank on a claim under a crime and civil liability policy in connection with employee fraud.

 

Coverage and claims advice in connection with a mining company's claim under a CAR policy and delay in start-up coverage. 

 

Acting for reinsurers of a global pharmaceutical company concerning disputed reinsurance coverage of multiple US class actions alleging personal injury.

 

Acting for a captive insurance company on a professional negligence claim against its broker in connection with the placement of excess layer reinsurance.

 

Advising on a Performance Bond guarantee and related indemnity arrangements in connection with a Columbian road construction project.

 

Acting for a U.S. asbestos trust in a £500m Commercial Court claim against leading international reinsurers relating to historic asbestos liability.
