Frances joined the firm in 1987, qualified in 1989 and became a partner in 1998. Frances specialises in mergers and acquisitions, acting for a wide range of clients, notably in the retail, media and leisure sectors. She has extensive experience in cross border and multi jurisdictional matters, as well as corporate restructurings and reorganisations, shareholder arrangements and joint ventures. Frances spent 3 years in Lovells' Tokyo office and continues to act for a large number of Japanese clients in relation to their investments in UK and European ventures as well as advising clients investing in Japan.

Frances is head of the Corporate Governance Unit at Hogan Lovells International LLP and is a frequent speaker and writer of articles on corporate governance issues.

Frances is also General Counsel to Hogan Lovells International LLP and regularly deals with a wide range of issues affecting the firm, both in relation to its structure and internal governance and in relation to its dealings with clients, regulators and other third parties.
