LONDON, 4 August 2017 – Hogan Lovells has made another significant addition to its global investment funds practice with the appointment of partner Jonathan Baird in London. Jonathan is a dual qualified UK and U.S. corporate and securities lawyer who has been a partner with Freshfields in London for over ten years.

Jonathan specializes in investment fund and asset management work across all asset classes and has a market reputation as a leading practitioner, in particular for listed investment companies. Jonathan's practice includes capital raisings by public and private investment entities, especially listed investment companies, real estate issuers and special purpose acquisition companies, as well as M&A and corporate governance advice.

Commenting on his arrival, David Gibbons, Global Head of the Hogan Lovells Corporate Practice, said: “Jonathan is a noted leader in listed funds and will enhance our funds practice across London, the U.S. and Europe. Combined with the recent lateral hire of investment funds partner Adam Tope in New York, Jonathan's appointment helps to further expand our coverage across a range of asset classes and fund types, which can better service the needs of our global client base."

Jonathan's first rate client list includes leading international investment banks and leading European and U.S. investment managers and investment entities.

Nick Holman, partner and co-lead of Hogan Lovells Investment Funds Group, added: "Our funds practice is already having a tremendously strong year, across multiple asset classes and across both private and listed funds, and adding someone of Jonathan's calibre and reputation to our team takes us to a new level. Recent analysis by the London Stock Exchange showed that 2017 is set to be a record year for listed funds, so making our offering in this area even stronger is very timely. Our broad-based funds practice is well positioned to capitalize on the continuing and varied investment opportunities we are seeing our clients looking to participate in."

Jonathan Baird commented: "Having worked opposite Hogan Lovells on some significant transactions in the past, I know of their excellence in the funds space. I am very excited to become a part of this leading London team and to work with the other funds partners across the firm's global platform, helping to grow the investment funds practice."
