He has been involved in various international commercial transactions,especially in foreign direct investment, project finance, banking and finance, energy, real estate, and infrastructure projects.

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Michael worked at a Beijing-based leading Chinese law firm where he represented international and domestic banks and other financial institutions, multinational corporations, and domestic corporations in relation to foreign direct investment, project finance, commercial lending, energy and water projects.

Advising a foreign state-owned company on a US$20bn oil-for-loan financing provided by China Development Bank

Advising Ford Motor Company in its sale of Volvo Cars to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Company Limited for US$1.8bn

Advising an international investment fund in structuring a direct investment of approximately US$60m in a five-star hotel project in Shanghai Municipality, China.
