Scott is a Senior Associate and Solicitor Advocate in the Hogan Lovells International Arbitration team focusing on public international law and, in particular, dispute settlement under investment treaties.

Scott acts for States, international organisations and businesses in international disputes, primarily international arbitrations under the ICSID, SCC, UNCITRAL, LCIA and ICC rules in addition to ad-hoc arbitrations and arbitration-related litigation before the English courts.  He has experience of dispute settlement in the oil and gas, renewable energy, aviation, media, telecommunications, mining and life sciences sectors.   

Scott also has experience of conducting advocacy in a number of investment arbitration hearings and he regularly delivers training and lectures on international investment law and dispute settlement.  He has Higher Rights of Audience (Civil Proceedings) before the English courts.

Acting for Irish investors in an ICSID arbitration against the Federal Republic of Germany under the Energy Charter Treaty

Acting for a UK investor in an ICSID arbitration against Romania under the Energy Charter Treaty

Advising Ukraine in connection with an SCC arbitration under the Energy Charter Treaty

Advising clients on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, including the rights and jurisdiction of coastal States and the freedoms of other States in an exclusive economic zone

Advising clients on the sanctions available under the UNCLOS related to maritime scientific research projects

Advising clients on the consequences of judgments of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in relation to the delimitation of maritime boundaries
