As an associate in our Trade and Investment Group, Jorge Torres focuses his practice in EU and international trade law. He brings seasoned experience in trade policy, particularly in the negotiation of free trade agreements and the interpretation of WTO rules. He regularly advises on EU trade defence measures and customs issues, such as customs classification and valuation. He has conducted internal customs audits and has been involved in customs investigations in the life sciences and industrial sectors. Additionally, Jorge's work also covers related areas such as EU export controls and economic sanctions.

Jorge is an Associated Researcher at the Institute for European Studies of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He has lectured on trade policy at the Institute for European Studies of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and at the College of Europe, in Bruges.

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Jorge completed traineeships at the unit responsible for the implementation of antitrust rules in the financial sector at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Competition, the Directorate of the Energy Charter Secretariat, and the Trade Commission of the Spanish Embassy in Morocco.

Assisting a large American corporation on assessing customs valuation methods and securing the positive termination of a customs audit by the French authorities on its customs valuation methods.

Acting for a leading polysilicon manufacturer in the EU anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations against solar panels originating from China.
