Growing Trees from Clothes in Johannesburg

UK and Africa

In partnership with Clothes to Cash Exchange, Life Link 24/7 Cares, and Willow Feather Farm, a team from our Johannesburg office collected 701.60 kilograms of clothes, thereby contributing to the planting of 14 trees at Olievenhoutbosch Disability Centre, which is a center for children in the township who have mental and physical disabilities.

Unusable old clothes were given to Life Link 24/7 Cares, which will donate them to the nonprofit organization Grace Help Centre for repair and reuse.

Usable clothes earned R5 per kilogram, and for every R5 Hogan Lovells earned, Clothes to Cash Exchange donated a further R2. This resulted in the Johannesburg team raising a total of  R2269.40, and contributing to the planting of 14 indigenous trees from Willow Feather Farm.
