Making nutrition count

Social Enterprise

Asia Pacific and Middle East

Low-wage workers in Singapore largely survive on rice that’s often of very poor quality. We’re working with 45Rice to change that.

The social enterprise is part of the Base of Pyramid Hub, a nonprofit group started in 2011 that aims to combat poverty through commercial solutions. 45Rice provides fortified rice containing essential vitamins and minerals to migrant workers. And they’re cutting out the middle men, who sometimes unscrupulously supply poor quality rice for their own profit. The company has reached a deal with DSM, a global science-based company active in health nutrition and materials, to provide the fortified rice. The project hopes to reach 350,000 foreign workers in Singapore.

We’re providing corporate and commercial advice as well as assisting on the draft collaboration and supply agreement.
