Looking forward by looking back

Our London office celebrated LGBT History Month with two events.

Our Pride Network cohosted a panel with The List LGBT Network on the history of LGBT rights in the UK. The evening began with a look at the villains and heroes of LGBT rights over the past 500 years and the ongoing consequences around the world. Partner Sian Owles then chaired a discussion with panelists Peter Laverack, former Hogan Lovells lawyer and current barrister and human rights lawyer; Jonathan Cooper, former CEO of the Human Dignity Trust and current barrister; Caroline Paige, the first officer to transition gender in the British Armed Forces; and Patrick Lyster-Todd, director at Pride in London.

We also hosted the Out Leadership European leadership committee reception. Out Leadership partners with senior LGBT+ and ally executives to leverage the business case for global equality. The organization’s newest video, Business: Moving LGBT+ Progress Forward, was inspired by conversations with leaders at its 68 member companies, including Hogan Lovells. It asserts that global businesses remain dedicated to their LGBT+ customers, employees, and leaders – no matter the pace of political change around the world.
