An education in Title IX

The Los Angeles Diversity Committee welcomed Kathleen Salvaty, the University of California's first system-wide Title IX coordinator.

In honor of April's Celebrate Diversity Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Kathleen joined us for an informal "fireside chat."

Moderated by her brother and Hogan Lovells litigation partner Paul Salvaty, Kathleen discussed her new role as Title IX Coordinator, overseeing UC's ongoing efforts to effectively prevent and respond to sexual violence and sexual harassment, which includes education, investigation, adjudication, and sanctioning in cases involving students, faculty, and staff.

Before joining UC, she was an attorney for almost two decades with experience in civil rights law, including serving as Executive Director of the Los Angeles Police Department Blue Ribbon Rampart Review Panel, which evaluated and made recommendations regarding police reform.
