As a partner in the Denver office, Chris Weigand focuses his practice on a full range of business transactions, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic investments. He advises clients in a variety of industries, with a focus on the sports, entertainment, hospitality, and health care industries.
Whether he is working with multi-billion dollar global businesses, family offices or emerging growth companies, Chris works side-by-side with his clients' management teams to navigate complex issues and successfully execute their transactions.
While in law school at the University of Colorado, Chris served as a member of the University of Colorado Law Review and as the president of the Business Law Association.
Representative experience
Advised Anschutz Entertainment Group, Inc. on creating ASM Global, a joint venture with Onex Partners to run the global venue management businesses of AEG Facilities and SMG.
Advised AEG Presents on live music business acquisitions and joint ventures (The Bowery Presents, Promowest Productions, Zero Mile Presents, and Frontier Touring).
Advised the Tampa Bay Lightning, and its controlling owner, Jeffrey Vinik, in connection with a minority investment by Arctos Sports Partners.
Advised Silver Lake Partners and Quorum Business Solutions on the sale of Quorum to Thoma Bravo.
Represented Xanterra Parks & Resorts, Inc. with respect to the acquisition and disposition of multiple businesses.
Advised Joe Tsai, co-founder of Alibaba Group and owner of the NBA's Brooklyn Nets and the National Lacrosse League (NLL) San Diego Seals, in the purchase of a new expansion Las Vegas-based NLL team.
Represented a major international automotive manufacturer in its three investments in Rivian Automotive.
