The aspect that makes working at Hogan Lovells truly unique is the firm's distinctive culture.

The working atmosphere in the office is very friendly and collaborative. Each member of the Hogan Lovells' global team is collegial and has a similar mind-set. Everyone is willing to help and answer any question that you might have. As a trainee, I found working in such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere encouraging. It enabled me to boost my confidence on a professional and personal level. I have never felt I was left on my own, but rather I always sensed I was part of one strong team which operates worldwide.

Since I joined Hogan Lovells' office in Brussels, I have worked with our colleagues who are based in other offices around the world every single day. In one working day, I attend a call to discuss a major global case with colleagues in the Washington, New York and London offices. Later in the day, I liaise with our lawyers located in Australia, China and Korea. This global approach makes the working environment truly unique and challenging as it brings together many distinctive cultures. A close working relationship with other offices also ensures a lot of international exposure as well as the ability to work on cross-border matters on a daily basis.

At the same time, this close relationship with lawyers around the world gives me, as a young lawyer, confidence on a professional level. I am certain that even if we come across a legal question to which we in Brussels may not have an answer, there will be someone in one of our 45 offices who will be able to respond.

I also appreciate that the firm tends to be non-hierarchical. All lawyers are open to consider ideas of every team member, regardless of their status. As a trainee, I felt that my suggestions and ideas were listened to and duly considered also by senior lawyers. This made me realise that everyone in the firm, regardless of her or his position, has a say.

In short, due to the firm's distinctive working culture, I look forward coming to the office in the mornings, and truly feel part of the Hogan Lovells worldwide team.
