Benjamin Schulte guides his clients through complex product liability cases: defending civil claims both in and out of court in Germany, coordinating the worldwide defence across jurisdictions, as well as ensuring an integrated management of the civil matters with the regulatory, criminal and public relations matters that often accompany such cases. Benjamin understands the challenges of a consistent approach to all aspects of product liability cases and uses his experience in defending complex multi-jurisdictional cases for the benefit of his clients. Defending claims in the courtroom alone nowadays does not solve the clients' problems when facing high-profile product liability cases.

Due to changes in the media and litigation environment, these are today as well being tried in the global and heavily media-influenced court of public opinion. Benjamin advises his clients on these broader aspects of their cases, in particular he assists them in communicating strategically – with the media, the public, the authorities or any other stakeholders. Since joining Hogan Lovells in 2006, he has advised international and German clients with regard to product liability and regulatory issues, product safety and recalls – mainly in the life sciences industry.

To best counsel the clients, Benjamin works hand-in-hand not only with his point of contact within the companies' legal department, but also with his clients' engineering, science and medical teams, its communications department as well as additional external experts (e.g. scientists, media agencies) and counsel (e.g. criminal counsel, local counsel in other jurisdictions).
