Dion Panambalana impresses clients, who describe him as 'very commercial and extremely good at getting to grips with what really matters for his clients in a transaction.'

Chambers 2013

Dion has been a real estate partner at Hogan Lovells for 16 years. He likes to stay close to the asset where he can add value to the deal. He likes to break down complexity in a way that can be easily understood. He likes to work with, not against, the deal counterparties to get the deal done pragmatically (and for everybody to come away feeling as if the deal has worked for them all).

Much of his work has been for the public sector. Perhaps his proudest moment was getting the Liberty Stadium built and seeing Swansea City Football Club promoted to the Premiership and giving the Ospreys a new home to play their rugby. The BBC is a major client and Dion acted for them on their move to Media City in Salford as well as the sale of Television Centre and the restructuring of Media Village. For the private sector one of his biggest deals was representing News Corporation on their London real estate including selling Wapping, and moving into Thomas More Square pending taking all of The News Building at London Bridge.

For the industry he has worked for the BPF on a new leasing approach, the Model Commercial Lease, which gives landlords and tenants the chance to avoid wasting time on unnecessary legal debate and focussing their energies on their deal, the property and their business requirements.

He has also chaired the cross-industry working group that has submitted proposals this Autumn to the Law Commission on Reform to the 1954 Landlord and Tenant Act.
