In October 2009 AFNIC, the registry for the ‘.fr’ country-code top-level domain, was ordered to pay compensation to Francelot, a company specialised in the management and building of residential housing, for failing to ‘freeze’ a domain name upon its request. However, in AFNIC v Francelot, this decision has
been overturned.
